Learning unit contents
This course is an overview on virus diversity in term of morphology, genetic materials, modes of replication and interaction with the host. Classical methods of virus detection are also addressed. The illustrative examples are principally virus involved in human pathologies or virus studied in ULg research laboratories.

- Virus structures and classification
- Virus production and cycles
- Virus Infection and host response (included detection of virus infection)
- Transmission and control of virus infections
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To enable the student to understand and explain:
- virus molecular and morphologic characteristics,
- virus replication,
- interactions between virus and hosts,
- classical methods of virus detection and identification.
