Management of people who suffer major burns
Epidemiology, etiology, severity of the burn lesion. Pathophysiology of the burn wound. Inhalation injuries and barotrauma.
Hospitalization in burn centre and criteria for admission.
Medical and surgical emergency treatment. Wound care, air fluidized bed, balneotherapy, surgical treatment (grafts, alternative wound coverings).
Electrical and chemical injuries.
Minor and major aftereffects of burns.

Understanding of respiratory physiology and calculation of thoracopulmonary compliance and airway resistance in patients under mechanical ventilation in volume control mode
Main ventilator settings used in ICU and understanding of their indications
Complications of mechanical ventilation
Basic ventilator settings adapted to the patient disease and understanding of the effects of any modification of these settings
Respiratory diseases frequently encountered in ICU and understanding patient management strategies

1. Understand mechanisms of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and how to treat hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients.
2. Understand how to take care of people exposed to ionizing radiation and determine which are the possible consequences.
