Learning unit contents

The place of medical psychology is defined in the field of scientific medicine. Developmental psychology during childhood, adolescence and adulthood is discussed as a bio-psycho-social approach.
The specific psychological aspects to the doctor-patient relationship are thematically introduced. In an integrative perspective of psychic functioning, new discoveries in neurosciences are integrated with cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic models.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Place of medical psychology in the field of scientific medicine. Concepts of health, illness, mental health. The bio-psycho-social model.
The Human Psychology : the greats paradigms. 
Developmental Psychology. The conscious and the three unconscious.Psychological impacts of life events. Elements of communication theory. The doctor-patient relationship. The new science of mind.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Active attendance at classes is highly recommended.
The reading of scientific articles and the analysis of video sequences willbe part of the teaching methods.
