Learning unit contents
Supervised work in hospital 11 half days per week
In and outpatient care (hospitalisation, day care unit, consultations)
Diagnosis and treatment of all kind of solid tumors
Local and systemic treatment modalities (surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, trgeted therapy, immunotherapy, endocrine therapy): prescription, surveillance and management of side effects
Palliative systemic therapy

Medical expert: best use of knowledge and realization of medical procedures in order to offer higest standard of care to the patient
Communication: good relationship with patients, family of patient, colleagues and other health care professionals

Expected outcome:
Better understanding, in general, of pathology, diagnosis and treatment of each oncological pathology
Better scientific knowledge in the field of oncology
Work under supervision
Working and communication within a multidisciplinar team

Basic knowledge of scientific research
Analysis and interpretation of scientific data
Able to summarize a clinical problem, collect, analyze , interpret and report clinical data
Understanding of personal performance and impact on team work
Select appropiately diagnostic and treatment modalities

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Training in general internal medicine (3 years)
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Supervision by medical oncologist (senior staff) (hospitalisation, day care unit and consultations)

Personal reading of reference books or journals should be done on a regular basis
The candidate has to take notes during the teaching activities
National interuniversity examination; according to the results additional evaluation locally can be requested (only in case of poor performance at the national examination)
