Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

1. Properties of fluids 2. Hydrostatics 3. Kinematics of fluids 4. Hydrodynamics of ideal fluid 5. Flow of a real fluid 6. Laminar and turbulent flows 7. Fluid flow in pipes and head losses 8. Dimensional analysis and hydraulic similarity

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Teaching the fondamental concepts of fluid mechanics and their emprirical complements used in engineering applications on fluids.
After completing the course the student is expected to 1. Understand what determines the behavior of a fluid to rest or in movement. 2. Identify and to calculate the solicitations exercised by a fluid on its environment. 3. Calculate the debit provided by a determined installation.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

PHYS3026-1 - General physics
MATH0485-3 - General mathematics (third part)
MECA0519-1 - Mechanics - statics

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures : 14h Practical Works : 10h

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face to face

Recommended or required readings

Presentations available on the HECE Moodle site

A written examination organized for the whole of the course (100%). It counts for a theoretical and exercises parts.
The theoretical examinations are organized without any support. The practical examinations can be solved using the course support.
