Gastroenterology seminars
Seminaries in Gastroenterology are held in the different gastroenterologtt departments of the network of "maîtres de stage" in Gastroenterology for U Liège (CHU, CHR citadelle, CHC, CHR Verviers). They can be either interdiscipolinary meetings, clinical cases discussions, literature reviews, journal clubs on original papers. Several such meeting are organised each week. Candidates-specialists are invited to actively participate in these meetings with their "maître de stage" and the colleagues of this "maître de stage".

This corresponds to the two annual meetings of the Société Royale Belge de Gastroentérologie and to the meetings organised by the different Belgian scientific societies of digestive diseases (Onclolgy, Endoscopy, Liver diseases, IBD...).
Interuniversity training ULiege - ULB - UCLouvain
DES course of gastroenterology for students of Belgian French-speeking universities is prepared by gastroenterology professors of the 3 universities ULg, UCL and ULB. All new aspects and hot topics of pathologies of the digestive tract are developped.
This corresponds to the two annual meetings of the Société Royale Belge de Gastroentérologie as well as to meeting organised by the 3 universities in the field of gastro-intestinal diseases. There are on the top of this, 4 specific sessions of 3 half-days (12 half-days overall) tackling the whole of digestive pathology over a cycle of 3 years.

Assessment of the yearly work by the "maitre de stage"
On the top of this continuous evaluation, a specialisation master thesis must be generated and defended. The students must generate a written thesis, usually, but not exclusively, dealing with the analysis of a cohort of patients benefiting from a specific, exploration, assessment or treatment. The students are assessed after an oral defense of their thesis, based on the quality and the amount of work produced as well as the clarity and quality of the written and oral presentation.

These meetings are held in differents Belgian cities or universities. The program is sent to the trainees at the beginning of each academic year.
