Learning unit contents
Theoretical course : The course comprises 7 chapters dealing with various aspects of research in sport pedagogy.
Chapter 1 - Concepts and Paradigms of APS Intervention Research; Chapter 2 - Status of the issue and exercises related to the collection of qualitative data (observation); Chapter 3 - Status of the question and exercises related to the collection of qualitative data (interviews); Chapter 4 - Status of the issue and exercises related to the collection of quantitative data; Chapter 5 - Presentation and enhancement of research results in APS
Practical course: This course aims to illustrate research methods for collecting data about the three phases of the pedagogical relationship. Students are directly involved in the development of instruments, collecting and processing data in order to improve their experience in the use of softwares like Excel and R.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Theoretical course
-To illustrate the concept of sports pedagogy.
-To present the research paradigms used in this field.
-To describe the instruments and their characteristics.
-To illustrate the results of studies focused on the main studied variables.
-To underline the practical implications of this kind of research.
Practical course
-To illustrate the use of the instruments described at the time of the theoretical course.
-To provide students with a basic experience in developing research methods in the field of Intervention in physical and sport activities.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
- Experience in the practical sport courses; specific courses of the three first grades. - Course "Research methods in sport sciences" proposed in Bloc 3 of the Bachelor in Sport Sciences.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
- The theoretical courses use ex-cathedra activities and group situations.
- The practical course lays on group tasks and individual activities.
