Learning unit contents
The macroeconomics course is an introduction to the scientific method used by economists to measure economic quantities and formulate hypotheses explaining observed macroeconomic phenomena.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Acquire analytical methods to measure and understand macroeconomic developments in Belgium and the European Union.

The course consists of lectures on national accounts, the labour market, financial markets, long-term economic analysis (economic growth) and short-term economic analysis (monetary influences on output, employment and prices).
The course will cover macroeconomic developments in Belgium and Europe from the Industrial Revolution through the major economic crises to the present day.

Lectures (30h) + exercises (15h). First term.
