Learning unit contents

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with basic economic mechanisms by analyzing individual behaviour (microeconomics). Special attention is given to their applications for future university graduates. The course covers topics in the following areas. General introduction: definitions and basic concepts. Microeconomic approach: theory of demand, theory of production and costs, perfect competition, monopoly, monopoly and price discrimination, natural monoply, oligopoly and monopolistic competition. 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The student must be able to:
- explain the main basic concepts of economics;
- explain and analyze basic mircro-economic behaviors and mechanisms, ;
- understand the relationships between the main micro-economic variables;
- understand socio-economic news.
