Learning unit contents

Study of the basis legal principles governing the negotiation, the formation and the performance of the contracts (including remedies for breach of contract). This first section of the course relies on the general law of obligations ; practical exemples are found in computer contracts. These contracts are studied in the second section of the course (ie contracts on purchase of hardware, contracts on softwares and contracts on maintenance of informatic systems). The next section of the course is devoted to the law on legal protection of softwares and to the on line sale of goods or services. The last section is the study of a model computer contrat.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To provide the students with an overview of the basic legal principles governing the contracts that they may prepare or sign in their future business activities. It will not be asked from the student to understand in depth of the legal thinking, neither to know the details of the rules. The main goal is to draw their attention on the problems that they will probably meet.
