Learning unit contents

This course presents the usual dermatoses affecting the oral cavity. The student will be teached to recognize these dermatoses, to give a differential diagnosis, provide the adequate complementary examinations, the treatment options and to which departement the patient can be addressed for adequate follow-up.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To teach the students to recognize, to provide a differential diagnosis, and to propose complementary testing of frequently occurring dermatoses of the oral cavity, including infectious diseases (mycotic, bacterial, viral) as well as auto-immune and inflammatory diorderes, and benign and malignant neoplasia

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic knowledge of skin biology, histology, internal medecine and therapeutics is recommended

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

No practical sessions are organized. However, the student is invited to assist at the outpatient clinic consultations. Please contact the dermatology secretarial staff.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

The course is dispensed during the first trimester.
