Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Surface active agents are present in numerous formulated products and used in the production process of many materials. This course aims to provide a comprehensive approach on general principles of surface-active agents physical chemistry and their formulation in finished products. The main families of surface-active agents will be presented (12h). The use of surfactants for polymerization process in aqueous dispersed media will be discussed (3h). Finally, the main surface tension measurement techniques will be described within a theoretical introduction (2 h) followed by two practical laboratory sessions (8 h).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This course aims to make students familiar with the surface-active compounds currently used in industry and to provide them with the underlying basic physico-chemical principles.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic knowledge of chemistry.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
The whole course consists in face-to-face learning.
Recommended or required readings
A copy of the slides (in French and/or in English) will be furnished to the students.
