Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
- Biology : science of life, study of living beings
- Cellular materials and membranes
- Structure of pro- and eukaryotic cells
- Bioenergetics : flux of energy and metabolism
- Capturing energy : respiration and photosynthesis
- Cell division, genetic invariance and variation
- Heredity
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
- Understanding the cellular basis of life
- Viewing the functioning of living organisms from a triple perspective : flux of energy, flux of matter, flux of information
- Understanding the basis of invariance and of variation in the units of life : the role of DNA and of its changes (conjugation in prokaryotes and meiosis in eukaryotes)
- Explaining conformity and variability as resulting from the reproduction of living beings, through their biological cycles and considering the underlying mechanisms
- Understanding the cellular and molecular bases of heredity
