Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Statistical models are introduced using the classical linear models methodology. Simple models (gression and classification models) are shown to be basic examples of the linear models methodology. Examples are provided to illustrate the theory.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
By the end of the course, students should be able to model complex situations, obtain parameters estimators and test hypotheses on these parameters.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic statistics - Distributions (mainly t and F) - Hypotheses testing (design, calculations, p-value, conclusions).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
6 times 2 hour sessions - computers are used by the student during the sessions.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Front presentations
Course materials and recommended or required readings
Electronic documents, including the course slides and a syllabus chapter, are available for the student on the unit website.
Individual oral exam. The student should have ready a statistical analysis of his own dataset or from a provided (by us) dataset using the techniques developed in the course.
Work placement(s)
Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
Course schedules and rooms are provided by the professor in due time. The final examination is made on an individual request of each of the students.
