Contenus de l'unité d'enseignement

The course provides students with an overview of digital transformation and it economics and ethical impact. It is the purpose of the course to understand the meaning of digital transformation and its economic and ethical dimensions. In this respect, we provide a framework for understanding ways in which economies transform themselves through technological innovation and for assessing the economic and ethical impact associated with digital transformation. New digital technologies enlarge economic options, but also often give rise to unwanted social and economic consequences and lead to troubling ethical problems. Students will explore past and present developments in various fields of digitalization and discuss the economic and ethical challenges they raise.
     Digital Transformation
At the beginning of the module, we will examine the nature of digital transformation, covering (i) the development and scope of digital economy, (ii) contemporary and potential challenges arising from digital transformation, and (iii) future opportunities and implications related to digital economic expansion.
     Ethical Foundation
In the second part, we will review basic ethical aspects regarding business and economics followed by a discussion on various approaches to moral evaluation and on moral reasoning.
     Case Studies
As the course proceeds, we will focus on illustrating the ethical concepts on the basis of real life case studies in an integrated way. The Case Studies involve considering viable options related to making business-related ethical decisions in the digital economy. Thereby, we will introduce key techniques for analyzing the ethical dimensions of business situations managers face in a world of digital transformation.
