Learning unit contents

This course aims to present the main stages of the history of the Iranian world before its Islamization (thus considering the Achaemenid, Seleucid, Parthian and Sassanid periods) and to expose the religious system of this world: the Mazdean religion.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The first objective of the course is to provide students with an overview of pre-Islamic Iranian civilization.
It is also about perceiving the coherence of an ancient religious discourse while showing to what extent the modern view weighs on the analysis of such a file.

This is an oral ex cathedra course.

The oral examination consists mainly of a discussion of the written work that the student has produced on a theme agreed upon with the professor.
This assignment summarizes a question in about five pages.
